About Us!
The Greenway & Nature Center of Pueblo is located in beautiful Rock Canyon on the banks of the Arkansas River. A delicate blend of aquatic, riparian, transition and semiarid grassland habitats provide homes to a wealth of plants and animals. The Grounds suit a variety of activities which include; picnicking, wildlife viewing, fishing, kayaking and nature walks under the Cottonwoods. Miles of earth trails make a great location for horseback riding or bicycling. The Nature Center houses the Raptor Center of Pueblo where injured birds of prey are rehabilitated for their eventual release back into the wild. Although the Raptor Center was established to rehabilitate injured birds of prey, we place equal emphasis on educational programming. On average 200 hawks, eagles, owls, falcons and other raptors are treated at the facility annually. The majority are admitted due to human related accidents such as automobile collisions, power line electrocution and pesticide poisoning. the facility currently returns approximately half of the birds that it cares for to the wild. We also have a raptor viewing area where you can view our resident raptors
